Keigel Deon Johnson, Sr, (Kj) was born and raised in the state of Mississippi. Times then in that state were difficult as they still are now to a certain extent. It’s hard to believe that after all the efforts and struggles of our Forefathers that racism still exists. Even in 1992, the school that Kj attended had Homecoming Queens for each race and the Senior Prom was separate; however, being a member of the National Honor Society, President of Technology Students Association (TSA), Student Government Association (SGA) President, and Senior Class President, Kj and his classmates of all races made historic changes in their graduating year of 1993…one Prom, one Homecoming Queen, and one Graduation.

After graduating #11 in his class of 271 students at West Point High School, Kj went on to pursue higher education, but after only one semester, he decided on a career in the military leaving behind a full scholarship and his place on the Dean’s List with a 3.8gpa. He fast tracked in the military earning the rank of Staff Sergeat/E-6 in only 4 ½ years. With a background in Military Intelligence, Kj worked jobs for the Inspector General, Civil Affairs, Protocol, and Intelligence & Security on the General’s Staff before volunteering to become a paratrooper and getting assigned for duty with the 82nd Airborne Division. A few deployments and a couple of knee surgeries later, Kj left the military after being told, “No more jumping from any aircraft.”

There should be no doubt amongst anyone that comes into contact with Kj that he is definitely someone to have on your team. He has been blessed with talents and abilities only possible through his trials and tribulations and his belief in God. To know him, you must get to know him. Once you know him, you’ll realize and understand that “greater love has no man than this; that he would lay down his life for a friend.” He is one who works hard, plays just as hard, and will not be the type of friend that will tell you what sounds good or makes you feel good just to be your friend.
